Wearing makeup does not make you less of a man!

Men wearing makeup is flourishing the trend it has been growing with so many male makeup influencers on Youtube and Instagram such as Many MUA and more men in the public eye editing that they wear makeup.Huge brands such as Chanel that has announced and released their own male makeup BOY DE CHANEL. So why is there so many naysayers amongst us?

Millions of women out there including myself put in makeup everyday and go about our business. So if men are able to be fine with us doing it why do we have an issue with it. Men has been wearing makeup for centuries 4000 BCE to exact ancient Egypt, ancient Rome, England, France men wore makeup even if just was eyeliner. And somewhere along the way makeup became the "devils work".

In the twentieth century men wearing makeup was not approved except when it was worn by flamboyant gay men ( which was also a taboo) or rock stars such as Prince, David Bowie, Steven Tyler and Freddie Mercury. These were the only "acceptable" scenarios for society because makeup was a girl thing.

Around 2016 to 2017 things started to become more flexible we saw a growing acceptance of men wearing makeup. Gender neutral campaigns from brands such as Cover girl, Sleek and Makeup forever to name a few has been surfing the world wide web and in places like Sephora with beautiful men in their campaigns. "Gender rules" has become more adjustable because male beauty influencers broke barriers and makeup is slowly becoming apart of mens lives. These makeup gurus and brands has helped break stereotypes. People should be able to live their lives the way they want who gave anyone the authority to be the judge or jury. Mens makeup is going mainstream whether everyone is on board or not!
